The 11th Northern District Congress of the Communist Party of Britain (i.e. since Re-establishment in 1988) was originally scheduled for Saturday 30 May 2009, but had to be postponed due to the active participation of members in the No2EU – Yes to Democracy platform in the European Parliamentary election campaign.
The Congress eventually took place on Saturday 13 June, at the Newcastle TUC Building. It
endorsed the Report of Work of the Retiring District Committee and the Financial Report;
amended and then adopted the Main Resolution from the District Committee;
agreed three additional Branch Resolutions;
warmly received a fraternal address by Comrade Bill Greenshields of the Party’s Executive Committee; and
elected a new District Committee of 10, with provision to co-opt from Cumbria Branch if any proposals subsequently came forward.
